This drone footage showcases this 70kWp system we installed at Dowhill Farm, using SunPower P3-COM-415W’s. Dowhill extended the size of their PV system from 50kWp to 120kWp and combined it with Tesla Powerwall Battery Storage, along with a 3-phase rapid EV charger.
Our amazing drone footage showcasing Sunpower’s P3, Maxeon, X21 and E19 panels in both in-roof and on-roof styles, combining aesthetics with industry leading warranties.
Tesla held their annual installer conference in Dundee recently for their Scottish Tesla Powerwall installers. The event gave us a fascinating introduction to the Tesla Backup Gateway (AKA Gateway 2) which will allow homes and small businesses to maintain their electricity supply during power cuts. It is due to be released very soon and Ceiba’s customers who have placed orders for the Gateway 2 will see it being installed in the coming months.
At the event, Tesla also announced they continually assess and inspect Powerwall installations across the country to ensure the highest standards of installation practice. The highest standard installation of 2018 has been awarded to Ceiba Renewables.
Duncan Crosthwaite, Director of Ceiba Renewables said: “We are delighted to win this award. We have a focus on delivering high installation standards and so it’s great to have been recognised for this by Tesla. I know a number of the Tesla Powerwall installation companies out there and the standards they have so to have won this award is a fantastic accolade for us.”
Ceiba Renewables have won Highly Commended in two categories at the Scottish Energy Efficiency Regional Awards 2018.
The Energy Efficiency Awards were set up in 2014 to help recognise the work being carried out by the energy efficiency sector in Scotland and to provide public recognition for the excellent work the sector is doing. The awards encourage best practice within the Energy Industry as it works to improve UK housing stock.
Ceiba had been shortlisted as finalists in both the Solar PV Installer and the Small Project of the Year categories. The winners were announced at a dinner event at the Hilton in Glasgow on 29th June with Ceiba winning Highly Commended in both categories.
Ceiba Renewables’ Director Duncan Crosthwaite said: “To be shortlisted is an achievement in itself as we were up against some great companies and great projects. We are delighted to win Highly Commended for our work, it’s a great testament to our high ethical and installation standards in solar PV and battery storage.”
Tesla are now rolling out the Off-Peak Charging mode for the Powerwall 2. Also known as “Advanced Time-based Control” this fantastic feature allows the Powerwall 2 (PW2) to charge using cheap-rate electricity when there isn’t enough solar power to charge the battery. This can be used by any PW2 owner who has access to a cheap-rate tariff such as Economy 7 via a Smart Meter.
The Tesla PW2 has already proven a great hit with solar PV owners, allowing you to store excess solar PV power for use later at night. On many days, especially from April to September, the PW2 allows you to be >90% self-sufficient for your electricity requirements.
On darker days, especially during the winter months, solar PV may not charge the PW2 to it’s capacity and this is where the off-peak charging comes in, allowing you to charge your PW2 at off-peak rate and then use the stored power during on-peak times to further enhance your savings.
The update gives the option to match the use of your store solar energy with your local pricing structure or even charge the PW2 with energy from the grid when it is cheaper.
PW2 owners can then edit the price schedule with peak and off-peak hours in order for the home battery pack to automatically optimise savings based on the schedule.
This upgrade is currently being rolled out in the UK to all existing owners of the PW2 and will be available to every new PW2 owner from end of May 2018 onwards. For more detail on how it works, see our Tesla page.
Ceiba Renewables have won the Installer Award at this year’s Renewable Energy Association awards.
The winners of the annual British Renewable Energy Awards were announced at the Savoy Hotel in London last week. The annual awards ceremony is the industry’s most prestigious and celebrates the most outstanding projects and companies of the past year.
Dr. Nina Skorupska CBE FEI, Chief Executive of the Renewable Energy Association said:
“While it is easy to be distracted by the political hurricane that grips the nation, these companies are extraordinarily determined and have continued to operate to the highest standard.
“The past year’s sudden cuts to renewable energy supports, the lack of clarity about our future relationship with the EU, and snap election have not wounded these companies’ ambition or determination to succeed. They are the best of our industry this year, and we commend their work.”
Martin Wright, Chair of the Renewable Energy Association said:
“These fantastic winners tonight exemplify the British spirit of resilience in the face of adversity, and adaption in the face of change. These winners live their values and are striving to leave our world better than they found it. I congratulate them all.”
The Installer Award is for a company that has excelled in the installation of small-scale energy generation systems in homes; offering a high quality experience for consumers wishing to buy or lease.
Ceiba Renewables had been shortlisted by a nomination from one of their customers and were then assessed by a panel of judges with the announcement being made at the awards ceremony at the Savoy Hotel in London on Thursday 15th June 2017.
Ceiba’s Directors, Duncan and Debbie Crosthwaite, who weren’t able to attend the event due to impending parenthood said:
“A big thanks to the judges and REA and of course our customer who nominated us. Unfortunately we couldn’t make it tonight due to becoming first time parents any day now but it’s great to receive this award. The recognition is a real boost to us as we are a small business who focus on using good quality products and installing to a high standard like all of the companies here tonight. It’s sometimes tempting to use cheap components that have environmentally or socially dubious credentials in order to compete in the market however we’ve persevered with our high standards and this award is great recognition that we shouldn’t settle for anything but the best for our customers and the environment.”
