Solar Panels for Commercial
Thinking about getting solar panels? Even with fewer subsidies, you can still save a lot of money. Plus, they’re great for the environment and can increase your home’s value.
This drone footage showcases the 70kWp solar power system installed at Dowhill Farm, using SunPower P3-COM-415W panels.
Dowhill Farm expanded its PV system from 50kWp to 120kWp, combined it with Tesla Powerwall 2 Battery Storage, and added a 3-phase rapid EV charger.

Key attributes for the efficient solar investment
As well as being a good investment to offset against tax, here’s what you need to have for a solar system to be a sensible investment:
- Roof or ground space anywhere that allows panels to be situated that doesn’t face north and which has minimal shading
- Daytime electricity consumption
Simple! Solar PV is suitable for most buildings due to its flexibility, scalability, and low maintenance costs.

Power of custom solar installations
Every business is different, whether it’s your operations, goals, people, etc. At Ceiba we understand this and we can be adaptive to your requirements. We want to empower Scottish businesses to convert to high quality solar and keep the cost down as much as possible and to do this we believe in collaboration.
So if you have your own in-house electricians or a preferred electrical contractor who you would like to use for the electrical installation, then we can be flexible to utilise their skills. If you have plant and equipment that could be used then we can factor this in to keep down the installation costs. On the other hand, if you’d prefer our skilled installation teams to handle everything then we are more than happy to do so!
What does it take to install solar panels?
Remote Survey & Desk Study
We’ll send you a remote survey form to gather information about your building and requirements. This will help our solar experts recommend the best option for you.
System Design
After the remote survey, we will have a consultation call to discuss various solar options, provide a quote, and estimate performance and payback periods.
Final System Agreement & Site Survey
Our solar experts will conduct a technical survey to assess your building, discuss your system requirements, finalise the design and costs, and then proceed with the switch to solar panels.
Permissions
We handle planning and approval applications to the Local Authority and DNO (Scottish Power or SSE). It can take up to 3 months to receive permissions. We’ll get an Offer Letter from the DNO detailing their costs – Scottish Power charges a minimum of £650, SSE a minimum of £260.
Review of Offer Letter, Planning Requirements and any subsequent costs
The requirements the DNO or Local Authority may place on your solar installation may affect your payback period so it’s important to review all of your costs to ensure the investment is still within your budget.
Review of Planning Documents, Installation Plan and Timescales
We plan the installation for minimal disruption to your business and to ensure that the installation is carried out to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Installation & Commissioning
Depending on the size and dynamics of the installation, the installation can take 2 or more days to install. Once installed we will commission the solar system in line with DNO requirements.
Warranty Registration & Handover
After your solar PV system starts generating power, we will assist with paperwork, certificates, and commissioning forms for submission to the DNO. Our team will guide you through the components, set up online monitoring, and provide a handover pack with warranties and essential information within a couple of weeks.
Maintenance
Solar PV has low maintenance costs. We can work with your in-house maintenance team to create a regular plan and provide specialised maintenance as needed.
